Ingredients

* 2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 tbsp baking powder
* ½ tsp baking soda
* ½ tsp salt
* ½ tsp garlic powder (or more, to taste)
* ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
* 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
* ¾ cup buttermilk (cold)
* 2 tbsp melted butter, for brushing
* Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

1. **Preheat oven:**
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. **Mix dry ingredients:**
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder.

3. **Cut in butter:**
Add the cold cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. **Add cheese:**
Fold in the shredded cheddar until evenly distributed.

5. **Add buttermilk:**
Pour in the cold buttermilk and stir just until a sticky dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.

6. **Drop biscuits onto baking sheet:**
Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

7. **Bake:**
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

8. **Brush with butter:**
Immediately brush the hot biscuits with melted butter and sprinkle with parsley if desired.

9. **Serve warm:**
Enjoy these cheesy, garlicky biscuits fresh from the oven with butter, jam, or alongside soup or chili.
